Mortgage Insurance Trade Group Spends $320K In Q3 Lobbying The Mortgage Insurance Companies of America (MICA), the trade association for the private mortgage insurance industry, forked out $320,000 for federal government lobbying endeavors during the third quarter.

According to a Bloomberg report, the trade group focused its lobbying on congressional legislation relating to reforming the government-sponsored enterprises. The group also took aim at legislation designed to make the tax deduction on mortgage insurance premiums permanent, and on refinancing, housing and insurance issues involving the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Department of Transportation.

MICA's third quarter lobbying output was down roughly 71% from its $1.12 million output in the second quarter and down 69% from the $1.02 million allocated during the third quarter of 2010.
