Ron Paul: I’ll Shut Down HUD

Ron Paul: I'll Shut Down HUD Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, has made the elimination of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the repeal of the Dodd-Frank Act and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act cornerstones of his presidential campaign's domestic policy platform.

Under the banner ‘Plan to Restore America,’ Paul calls elimination of five cabinet departments: HUD, Energy, Commerce, Interior and Education. He also seeks federal deregulation of the financial services industry through the repeal of the Dodd-Frank Act and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and promises a ‘full audit’ of the Federal Reserve.

Paul, who is the chairman of the House Subcommittee on Domestic Monetary Policy and Technology, says the ‘Plan to Restore America’ will carry out $1 trillion in federal budget cuts within a year and achieve a balanced federal budget within three years.
