Settlement Company Recognized By Black Enterprise Magazine

urgh-based Urban Settlement Services LLC, the largest minority-owned settlement service company in the nation, has been selected by Black Enterprise Magazine as one of the top Black Businesses in the nation and is listed on the 2009 BE 100 List. Urban Settlement Services ranked No. 82 on Black Enterprise's list under the Industrial/Service Companies category. The company, which provides home retention services, as well as title, appraisal and closing services, was founded by Charles and Elisa Sanders, and is the second-largest black-owned company in Pennsylvania, with a staff of 125 and revenue of $50 million grossed in 2008. In addition to its Pittsburgh office, Urban Settlement Services has offices in North Carolina and Colorado. The company says it processed approximately 600,000 loan workouts in 2008. To be eligible for the BE 100 list, a company must be at least 51% black-owned and have been fully operational for the previous calendar year.
