Wells Fargo's mortgage processing center in Durham, N.C., will close by the end of the month, the Associated Press reports.
With the closing comes the cutting of 62 jobs. Wells Fargo says the employees will be given ‘special consideration’ for jobs at Wells Fargo and Wachovia offices.
The work currently handled in Durham will shift to the bank's Charlotte office, the AP says. Wells Fargo spokesperson Christine Shaw told the news service that a drop in refinance activity prompted the company's decision to shutter the Durham office.
