The White House has nominated Carol J. Galante to become assistant secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and commissioner of the Federal Housing Administration (FHA).
Galante is currently the acting assistant secretary of HUD and acting FHA commissioner. In 2009, President Obama appointed her deputy assistant secretary for HUD's Office of Multifamily Housing. Prior to joining the administration, she was president and CEO of BRIDGE Housing, specializing in building mixed-income housing.
If confirmed, Galante would replace David H. Stevens, who left the administration in April to become president and CEO of the Mortgage Bankers Association.
