A Washington, D.C.-based organization called Economists for Romney (E4R) announced today that 576 economists have now signed its statement in support of the presumptive Republican presidential nominee's economic plan.
The E4R website includes a statement that reads, ‘We enthusiastically endorse Gov. Mitt Romney's economic plan to create jobs and restore economic growth while returning America to its tradition of economic freedom â¦ Gov. Romney's economic plan is far superior for creating economic growth and jobs than the actions and interventions President Obama has taken or plans to take in the future. This November, voters will make a fundamental choice between differing visions of America's economic future.’
The E4R website launched last week, with more than 400 economists signing the statement. Among those attaching their names to the website are six Nobel laureates – Gary Becker, James Buchanan, Robert Lucas, Robert Mundell, Edward Prescott and Myron Scholes – along with former St. Louis Federal Reserve Bank President William Poole and former World Bank President Robert Zoellick.
