11241_aei_logo1 AEI Seminar To Focus On 2008 Bailouts The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) is turning back time with a seminar entitled ‘Were the 2008 Bailouts Justified?’

The seminar will detail the decision-making process that resulted in the federal government's financial rescue of Bear Stearns and American International Group and the decision not to extend a lifeline to Lehman Brothers. Vern McKinley, research fellow at the Independent Institute and author of the new book ‘Financing Failure: A Century of Bailouts,’ will be the main speaker, while AEI Resident Fellow Alex J. Pollock, AEI Visiting Scholar Phillip Swagel and Jean Helwege of the University of South Carolina's finance department will lead the discussion.

The seminar will be held April 16 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. EDT at AEI headquarters in Washington, D.C., and will also be webcast. More information is available online.
