Mortgage industry veteran Robert J. (Bob) Smith is the new president of AmeriSave Mortgage Corp., a privately owned online home mortgage lender.
Smith replaces Ed Abufaris, who recently announced he is leaving the company.
Smith joined AmeriSave on Nov. 1 and will be appointed president following receipt of necessary regulatory approvals.
Prior to joining AmeriSave, Smith was the national operations director for BNY Mellon’s mortgage group. Prior to that, he was president of Discover Home Loans.
AmeriSave recently opened an operations center in Louisville, Ky., to absorb employees of Discover Home Loans, which exited the marketplace. Smith was heavily involved in the transaction relating to Discover Home Loans’ Louisville operations.
