The Better Mortgage Bureau, based in Baltimore, has changed its name to the Consumer Mortgage Bureau in order to eliminate any confusion about its purpose and mission.
The organization says its aim is to elevate borrower awareness through shared experiences and information from industry experts. Consumers can search the repository of all of the organization's members to find the mortgage professionals that meet their needs. Mortgage professionals in the repository must be licensed, trained and bound to the Consumer Mortgage Bureau code of ethics.
‘We intend to make it crystal clear to the public who we are, what we stand for and what we do, so there will be no confusion whatsoever,’ says Lance Cassell, managing director of the Consumer Mortgage Bureau. ‘We see an industry that is losing its consumers' trust, and we intend to revive it.’
