U.S. home prices increased only 0.1% on average in September compared with August but increased 5.4% compared with September 2015, according to Black Knight Financial Services‘ home price index report.
As of the end of September, U.S. home prices were, on average, within 0.6% of the peak set back in 2006.
The average price for a single-family home was $266,000.
States that saw the biggest increases in home prices month over month in September included New York (0.9%), Florida (0.6%), Utah (0.6%), Arizona (0.5%) and Idaho (0.5%).
