Leticia Mijes has joined Churchill Mortgage as the company’s new multicultural market manager.

Mijes has more than 20 years of mortgage industry experience. She is also a past-president of the Houston chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals.

In this new position, Mijes will lead Churchill Mortgage’s national strategy to strengthen communication with multicultural populations. She will establish and maintain relationships with Realtors, referral partners and the local communities while also supporting the company’s efforts to recruit and train mortgage professionals to better serve a more diverse home buyer population.

According to the Pew Research Center, Americans are more racially and ethnically diverse than ever before, meaning home buyers are also becoming more diverse. In fact, Pew expects Hispanics to comprise 50% of all new home buyers by 2020.

“By recognizing the unique needs of different home buyer groups, we knew it was crucial for us to recruit a seasoned mortgage expert to support multicultural efforts,” says Mike Hardwick, president of Churchill Mortgage, in a release. “Leticia’s professional experience, combined with her passion for working with and educating individuals, makes her the perfect choice to spearhead our efforts and be a positive influence in communities with rich cultural backgrounds. We are committed to helping individuals achieve debt-free homeownership and look forward to her efforts.”

Last month, Churchill Mortgage announced the addition of 28 new employees since the start of the year to support the growing U.S. housing market. The new hires joined the lender’s branches in Colorado, Michigan, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Washington.
