Mortgage industry veteran Leonard Israel has joined Flagstar Bank as president of mortgage.
Israel has nearly 30 years of experience in the mortgage industry, including experience in correspondent, wholesale and retail production, as well as secondary marketing and warehouse lending. He is a seasoned executive with a deep and varied background ranging from risk management and process improvement to operations and compliance. He has managed national sales forces, led business transformations and achieved significant increases in market share.
As per a press release, Israel has held leadership positions at a number of mortgage providers. He previously served as executive vice president and regional CEO at IndyMac Bank and as senior vice president and national director of correspondent lending at CitiMortgage.
Israel began his career at Mission Hills Mortgage Corp. He most recently served as director of commercial real estate term lending at Sabal Financial Group, an international diversified financial services firm.
In his new role, Israel will be responsible for all aspects of Flagstar's mortgage originations business.
