Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac delinquencies have declined, according to the companies' most recent monthly volume summaries.
Freddie Mac's total delinquency rate on single-family properties fell three basis points (bps) to 3.8% at the end of September. Fannie Mae's seriously delinquent rate at the end of August was 4.7% – a 12 bps drop from July.
Delinquency trends were less clear on the multifamily side of business. Freddie Mac's rate rose from 0.32% in August to 0.35% in September. As with its single-family rate, Fannie's multifamily delinquency rate dropped from July through August – falling from 0.74% to 0.66%.
