The Committee for Actual Real Estate Solutions (C.A.R.E.S.), a nonprofit entity, and a connected political action group (C.A.R.E.S. PAC), both mortgage industry groups focused on legal issues, have been formed in response to market conditions and events.
‘With the current climate of mortgage banking and the awareness from the government officials, the mass media, borrowers, and consumer advocacy groups, to name a few, it's imperative that industry professionals make their voices heard and have an impact on the legislative changes that will affect the legal community, lenders and servicers, as well as the general public,’ the group says.
Mike Roberts of Roberts Law Firm in Little Rock, Ark., will be serving as lobbyist for C.A.R.E.S. The board has elected Robert Hopp of Denver-based Robert J. Hopp & Associates. LPA as president and Ted May of Rockville Centre, New York-based Sheldon May & Associates LLC to serve as secretary. Richard Nielson of Newport, Ky.-based Nielson & Sherry PSC will serve as treasurer.
