Interthinx, an Agoura Hills, Calif.-based unit of ISO and a provider of risk mitigation, mortgage fraud prevention and regulatory compliance tools for the mortgage industry, plans to make available to the financial services industry free online training on mortgage document fraud.
According to Interthinx, Introduction to Mortgage Document Fraud 100 is the first in a series of online, self-paced fraud training classes developed by the Interthinx team, which includes combined experience of 150 years in mortgage fraud detection. This 30-minute class identifies red flags to fraud in all types of documents, including suspect signatures, misuse of fax information, data misalignment, implausible dates and other indicators.
‘Fraud was, no doubt, an enormous contributing factor to the subprime meltdown and ensuing foreclosure climate,’ says Kevin Coop, president of Interthinx. ‘Interthinx believes that lenders should deploy proven, automated risk mitigation tools in concert with employee training on basic loan file red flags.’
