The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) announced some staffing changes this week, including the promotion of Marcia M. Davies to chief operating officer (COO) and Peter J. Grace to senior vice president (SVP) of strategy and member services.

Davies, who previously served as chief of staff and SVP of external relations, will continue to lead external relations while also assuming a consolidated operational portfolio, according to a press release. In addition, she will be responsible for ensuring alignment on the association's top organizational priorities.

Before joining the MBA, Davies worked at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), where she served as senior advisor to MBA president and CEO David Stevens when he was assistant secretary – federal housing commissioner, for HUD. Prior to HUD, Davies spent 21 years at Freddie Mac, where she held a variety of officer positions.

Grace, who previously served as vice president of strategy and internal technology, as well as chief information officer, will now also oversee the association's member services department, comprising the operations of MBA Education, including content development, design and delivery, as well as the association's membership services function.

Before joining the MBA in 2012, Grace also worked at HUD, where he served as chief of staff for the acting deputy secretary on matters related to the management of HUD. He also provided leadership on HUD's Transformation Initiative, a multi-year, multifaceted organizational change program. Prior to joining HUD, he was associate commissioner of the office of strategic planning, technology and research at the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development. Before that, he worked at Accenture.
