MBA Sets $1 Million Fundraising Goal For Open Doors Foundation The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) has kicked off a fundraising campaign for its Open Doors Foundation, with the goal of raising $1 million to allow parents with critically ill or injured children to take unpaid time off from work.

The MBA has donated an initial $50,000 to support the creation of the foundation and has committed to covering its administrative costs and the launch of the first grant-making program. Donations to the foundation are tax deductible.

The Foundation's first initiative makes mortgage payment grants to parents with critically ill or injured children, allowing them to take unpaid leave from work and spend precious time together without jeopardizing their cherished homes.

The foundation's first program will support families in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, and additional programs are scheduled to begin later this year. More information about the Open Doors Foundation is available online.
