Mortgage ‘QC Bowl’ Extended To March 4

The Super Bowl is over, but mortgage quality control (QC) experts can still compete in the mortgage “QC Bowl.”

Becky Walzak, president and owner of mortgage consultancy rjbWalzak Consulting and executive vice president of mortgage compliance and risk management solutions provider Mortgage True View, reports that participation in Mortgage True View’s “QC Bowl” has been better than expected and that the competition has been extended to March 4.

The unique contest lets mortgage QC experts compete for prizes. More specifically, mortgage QC experts are each asked to review 10 loans and answer questions about the quality of those loans. In addition, each expert must explain why he or she answered the way they did.

“We expected it to be a big hit – we expected people to be excited about the QC Bowl – but we didn’t expect the response to be so large or encompass so much of the industry,” Walzak says in a release. “From QC personnel in small independent mortgage companies to major investors, folks have been participating in the QC Bowl. As a result of all this interest, we are pleased to announce some major updates to the contest.”

Walzak reports that a large QC outsourcing company has contacted Mortgage True View and asked to allow all of its analysts take part in the contest.

“They are excited about the opportunity and want to give their staff a chance to have some fun, as well,” Walzak says. “Makes you wonder what other outsourcing companies are doing?”

Because of this request and the number of folks still participating, Walzak says she has decided to extend the competition until March 4. Participants will only have until that date to finish reviewing the 10 loans.

In addition, Walzak reports that Advantium Capital has signed on as a sponsor for the QC Bowl.

“The company is known for providing products and services to the mortgage banking industry that are specifically designed to streamline and enhance the entire loan process from origination and secondary marketing through the post-closing and servicing,” Walzak says. “Its focus on quality products and services is well known and appreciated throughout the industry.”
