Mountain Real Estate Group, a Charlotte, N.C.-based buyer of distressed bank assets and a private capital source for real estate developers, builders and operators, has expanded its operations by opening an office in White Plains, N.Y. This is the company's eighth regional office and first in New York.

Mountain Real Estate Group named Rodney Montag to head the new office. Montag recently joined the firm's equity investment arm, Mountain Real Estate Capital. Previously, he held senior positions at Cantor Fitzgerald and WCI Communities, where he worked in real estate development, home building and investment banking.
