Move over, Donald Trump – another real estate executive is getting into the political arena.
The Triangle Business Journal reports that Billie Redmond has announced her candidacy to become the next mayor of Raleigh, N.C. Redmond is CEO of Coldwell Banker Commercial Trademark Properties, a commercial real estate brokerage with more than 2.6 million square feet of property managed by 30 full-time brokers.
Redmond is a registered Republican, but Raleigh's municipal elections are nonpartisan. She is seeking to replace Charles Meeker, who announced last month that he is leaving after five terms as mayor.
‘I'm running for mayor because I believe that meeting the demands and challenges of a tough economy and creating jobs requires strong leadership and someone who understands how jobs are created and maintained,’ said Redmond in announcing her campaign.
