Neil J. Morse, a former executive editor of Secondary Marketing Executive and the president of a public relations agency serving companies in the real estate finance industry, passed away at his Newtown, Conn., home on April 27 following a bout with cancer. He was 62.
According to an obituary published by by the Mortgage Bankers Association, Morse was born in New York City in 1950 and received his undergraduate degree at Connecticut's University of Bridgeport. He remained in Connecticut, beginning a media career as a reporter for the Bridgeport Post (now the Connecticut Post) and receiving his master's degree in communications from Fairfield University. He would later join the university faculty as an adjunct professor of communications.
In addition to his editorial contributions to Secondary Marketing Executive (which is published by Zackin Publications, the parent company of MortgageOrb), Morse authored articles in a wide number of industry trade magazines and published a blog that commented on housing finance issues. He started Morse Communications in 2000 and provided public relations and marketing support for companies involved in mortgage banking. He also maintained an active presence as a guest speaker and panel moderator at industry conferences.
Morse is survived by his wife, Susan; two children; two sisters; a brother; and a grandson.
