New Home Sales Up 25.4% Compared With One Year Ago

New home sales were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of about 592,000 as of the end of June – an increase of 3.5% compared with the revised May rate of about 572,000 and an increase of 25.4% compared with about 472,000 in June 2015, according to the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The average price for a new home sold in June was around $306,700; the average sales price was around $358,200.

As of the end of June, there were about 244,000 new homes for sale in the U.S. That’s a 4.9-month supply at the current sales rate.
