The National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC), based in Silver Spring, Md., has received a grant from HSBC Finance's card and retail services business to fund the Phase I development of a new NFCC National Counseling Locator Service (NCLS).

NFCC says that this new service will provide consumers and NFCC partners with a simple and secure platform to access all of the counseling and educational services offered by the full NFCC network of 113 member agencies.

Each product and service delivered by an NCLS participating agency counselor will be in accordance with a standardized NFCC service delivery protocol for the specific service and additionally will allow sufficient latitude to tailor the session to the unique needs of the client.

To meet the urgent crisis in the housing sector, NFCC is initially launching the new platform for loss mitigation and reverse mortgage counseling services.
