The National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions (NFCDCU) has announced that it will present its 2012 Annie Vamper ‘Helping Hands’ Awards to Phillip H. Conner, director of Mt. Zion Indianapolis Federal Credit Union, and Helen Godfrey-Smith, president and CEO of Shreveport (La.) Federal Credit Union.
Conner (pictured top left) is being honored for his work as chairman of the credit union's delinquent loan committee, where he successfully reduced the institution's delinquency rate from over 26% at its highest point to nearly 0% today. Godfrey-Smith (pictured bottom left) was cited for her community development work in the Mississippi Delta region.
The awards celebrate the legacy of the late Annie Wilma Vamper, an NFCDCU associate director who inspired the work of smaller credit unions serving low- and moderate-income people and communities.
