The Obama administration is expected to name mortgage and real estate veteran David Stevens commissioner of the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), the Washington Post reports.

Stevens is president and chief operating officer of Long & Foster Cos., which includes Long & Foster Real Estate and its affiliated businesses, including mortgage, title and insurance. He joined the Chantilly, Va.-based brokerage in July 2006, according to the company's Web site. Prior to that, he was executive vice president and national wholesale manager for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage's wholesale channel.

Before Wells Fargo, Stevens was the senior vice president of single-family business at Freddie Mac, where he was responsible for marketing, affordable lending, product development and communications.
