Senate Confirms Lew For Treasury Spot The U.S. Senate has confirmed White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew as the next Secretary of the Treasury.

USA Today reports that Lew's nomination was approved Wednesday on a 71-26 vote. The confirmation had some degree of bipartisanship, with 20 Republicans joining the Democrats in supporting Lew, who succeeds Timothy Geithner.

President Obama praised the vote and said he would rely on Lew's judgment ‘as we work to create good, middle-class jobs, provide more people with the skills those jobs require and ensure every hardworking American can earn a decent living.’
