Stewart Title Insurance Co. has merged with Stewart Title Guaranty Company in New York.

Both are owned by Stewart Information Services Corp.

The combined company will operate as Stewart Title Guaranty Company (STGC).

In a release, the company says the merger “represents a strategic step forward to better the company’s offerings while capitalizing on Stewart’s financial strength and meeting the evolving needs of its customers.”

“Operating as STGC in New York will allow us to better serve our New York customers by accessing all of our underwriting power and increased financial stability,” says Fred Eppinger, CEO of Stewart. “Stewart is a trusted underwriting name in New York, and this merger will allow us to leverage the full strength of our combined financial balance sheet, enabling us to more effectively and efficiently underwrite transactions of all sizes, including significantly larger and more complex transactions.”

STGC has joined Title Insurance Rate Service Association (TIRSA) and adopted the New York Policy and Endorsement forms, further aligning with industry standards and enabling Stewart to operate as one cohesive company across the country.

“Stewart is building the Premier Title Services Company, and this merger is a natural step as we align with industry standards allowing us to offer the same level of service with the added benefit of expanded capabilities to support our customer’s needs,” Eppinger says. “Our commitment to delivering a seamless experience to our clients remains unchanged as all existing leadership and employees will remain in place, ensuring continuity and dedication to the high standards our customers and clients have come to expect from us.”
