Andrew Weiss, a widely known and highly respected IT mortgage executive, has joined STRATMOR Group, a consulting firm that provides professional expertise and proprietary insights to the mortgage industry, as a principal in the firm’s IT and operations advisory practice.

Weiss has led teams at both start-ups and Fortune 500 companies, focusing his efforts on the optimal use of technology, big data, analytics and automated decision processes, STRATMOR Group stated in a release.

In addition, Weiss has led the development of an automated underwriting platform for the non-conforming mortgage market, a specialized servicing platform for distressed mortgage assets and an online marketplace for private student loans.

He previously served as senior vice president of advanced technology at Fannie Mae, where he led the team that invented, developed and fostered most of the company’s technology innovations, including the concept development and initial implementation of the Desktop Underwriter system.

“There are few people in our industry with the depth and breadth of experience that Andrew Weiss is widely known for,” said Len Tichy, senior partner and leader of STRATMOR’s IT advisory practice. “His impressive background and many remarkable strengths will help STRATMOR customers strike a balance between the perfect and the possible to achieve their real-world objectives.”

In his new role, Weiss will lead and support client engagements that span the full range of IT and operations challenges faced by the firm’s lender-clients, including technology selection, implementation and operations improvement.
