“Fintech” executive Jason Bressler has joined United Wholesale Mortgage (UWM) as chief technology officer (CTO).

In a release, UWM says hiring Bressler is a part of its strategy to drive innovation.

Bressler has 19 years of experience in financial services, having most recently served as chief information officer at The Federal Savings Bank in Chicago – a veteran-owned bank with a focus on Veterans Affairs loans and Federal Housing Administration loans for military and first-time home buyers. He also previously worked as the director of information technology at Guaranteed Rate for 15 years.

Bressler’s extensive mortgage background is expected to pay major dividends for UWM, which produced $3.845 billion of loan volume in the first quarter.

“UWM is such a respected pioneer in lending and a known technology leader,” Bressler says in the release. “I’m excited to add to the momentum that has already separated UWM from its competitors over the last year as the unquestioned benchmark of innovation and success in the mortgage industry.”

Bressler will work closely with Paul Orlando, chief information officer for UWM, to differentiate the company from its wholesale competitors by developing the most intuitive, easy-to-use technology platform in the country.
