Citigroup Inc. recently announced three key executive appointments to its mortgage and retail bank businesses.
David Smith has been appointed chief operating officer of Citi’s U.S. retail bank and mortgage operations.
Smith was previously CitiMortgage’s head of originations operations. Since joining Citi in 2008, he has held leadership roles in mortgage default and originations program management, leading large scale change initiatives.
In his new role, Smith will drive business strategy, operations and financial planning across Citi’s newly combined business. He will also continue to lead the launch of digital end-to-end mortgage originations capability.
His organization will include ATM network, branch oversight and consumer sales practices, strategic transformation projects and vendor strategy, as well as PMO for capacity planning/investment prioritization and prioritization/technology.
Ranjit Bhattacharjee has been named head of U.S. mortgage. He is currently CitiMortgage’s head of capital markets and correspondent sales.
In his new role, Bhattacharjee will lead the growth of Citi’sMortgage business in close partnership with retail banking to deliver a best-in-class customer experience that drives new acquisitions and deepens client relationships.
Bhattacharjee joined Citi in 2000 and has led teams in CitiMortgage and the Citi Institutional Clients Group. His team will include capital markets, correspondent sales, strategic markets/CRA, fulfillment operations, BP&A, business controls, vendor management and mortgage holdings.
Brad Wayman has beeb named head of U.S. mortgage sales. Since joining Citi in 2003, he
has led teams in retail, wholesale and correspondent lending. He has been a division lending executive on the East Coast for the past four years, most recently for New York, New Jersey and the Northeast suburban markets.
Wayman began his career in real estate and served in the Office of Public Affairs for both the White House and Department of Justice during the early 2000s.
In his new position, Wayman will lead Citi’s mortgage sales teams. His team will include distributed retail sales, direct to consumer sales and sales support, and business development.
