Fannie Mae Expands Attorney Network To 14 Jurisdictions

Fannie Mae has added 14 new jurisdictions to its mandatory retained attorney network. The government-sponsored enterprise has posted on eFannieMae.com an updated list of attorneys in the new jurisdictions who are eligible to receive foreclosure and bankruptcy referrals relating to Fannie Mae loans.

The effective date for mandatory use of the attorneys in the new states is May 1, but Fannie Mae is encouraging servicers to use its approved attorneys as soon as possible.

The newly added jurisdictions include Alaska, Arkansas, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Maine, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon and Utah.

Fannie Mae additionally revoked previous guidance on obtaining evidence of title and managing foreclosures in Nevada.

‘Servicers are required to refer foreclosure and bankruptcy referrals to the Nevada attorneys identified on the retained attorney list after the effective date,’ Fannie Mae says in its letter, adding that servicers will no longer be authorized to refer foreclosure matters to trustee companies in the state.
