Beginning November 19, HOPE NOW – an alliance between mortgage counselors, mortgage participants and mortgage servicers – will send more than 200,000 letters to borrowers identified as being at-risk.
According to John H. Dalton, president of the Housing Policy Council, the letters represent the first deliverable of the HOPE NOW alliance and will be followed by several additional outreach efforts. In the letters, homeowners are encouraged to contact their servicers as soon as possible or go to specified Web sites to find nonprofit credit counselors.
