Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago, the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA), NeighborWorks America and 14 nonprofit housing counseling organizations have launched the Illinois Statewide Foreclosure Prevention Network, a new statewide venture.
Through this operation, homeowners will have 24-hour access to a national hotline where they can get advice about avoiding foreclosure and will be able to make face-to-face counseling appointments for foreclosure assistance with participating nonprofit counselors across the state, Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago says.
The Illinois Statewide Foreclosure Prevention Network is supported by grants from the IHDA and NeighborWorks America, which will reimburse the participating counseling agencies for the counseling services they are providing for Illinois families.
‘This statewide effort will enable NHS and other housing agencies to provide additional resources and tools for those homeowners who need our assistance the most to stay in their homes and keep our neighborhoods strong,’ says Bruce Gottschall, executive director for NHS of Chicago.
