Two of the stars of the popular television show ‘The Real Housewives of New Jersey,’ Teresa Giudice, 41, and her husband, Giuseppe ‘Joe’ Giudice, 43, have reportedly been charged with mortgage fraud.
According to an Associated Press report, each was charged with conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, bank fraud, making false statements on loan applications and bankruptcy fraud in a 39-count indictment returned today by a federal grand jury.
The couple has been on the show since 2009.
In addition, Joe Giudice is charged with failure to file tax returns for tax years 2004 through 2008, during which time he earned close $1 million, according to the report.
Authorities allege the pair engaged in a scheme to illegally obtain mortgages and other loans, as well as hide assets and income during a bankruptcy case.
Teresa Giudice's attorney reportedly said she will plead not guilty and that ‘we look forward to vindicating her.’
