SCRA-Verification Service Offers Batch Processing

The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act Centralized Verification Service (SCRACVS), a division of D.C. Registered Agent Inc., has rolled out a secure site that permits batch processing of active-duty military verifications under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act.

The SCRA makes it unlawful to take certain collections action against persons on active military duty. Numerous servicers were slammed with penalties earlier this year after it was revealed that they had wrongly foreclosed on servicemembers' homes.

SCRACVS says its newest batch offering is targeted to high-volume inquirers, such as lenders, servicers and counsel whose existing databases include the subjects' Social Security numbers. Users can leverage the service to determine whether a borrower is on active duty and what branch the borrower serves in, as well as the servicemember's start date and, if applicable, the termination date.

Lender clients can integrate data from SCRACVS' response files into its own database. Appended to each record is a link to the official, time-stamped Military Status Report issued by the Department of Defense, and the HTML certificates are stored perpetually, SCRACVS says. All data components of the SCRACVS sites are encrypted with 128-bit SSL encryption.
