Stearns Lending Inc., a national mortgage lender, has appointed Laura LaRaia as associate general counsel and chief compliance officer, where she will serve as legal advisor to the executive management team on mortgage regulatory matters.
LaRaia most recently served as associate general counsel and senior vice president of compliance for Texas-based Pacific Union Financial, where her responsibilities included providing legal counsel for the mortgage origination business, as well as managing regulatory exams and licensing activities. She also served as senior counsel at MetLife Bank and spent 15 years with law firm Middleberg Riddle & Gianna.
