The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) says it has designated Tom Tofte, a 28-year banking veteran, as a senior national bank examiner.
According to the OCC, the senior national bank examiner designation recognizes examiners who have distinguished themselves through high-quality performance and service as field examiners, subject matter experts, and advisers on highly complex and technical bank supervision issues. This designation is regarded as the highest honor for national bank examiners, the OCC says.
While a member of the OCC's Sioux Falls, S.D., field office, Tofte served as examiner-in-charge (EIC) of MetaBank.
Previously, he supervised the $25 billion student loan portfolio at Wells Fargo and led or assisted on credit card and merchant processing examinations at Capital One and Bank of America. Tofte is currently the EIC of TCF National Bank.
