For the fifth consecutive year, Urban Lending Solutions (ULS), a provider of residential mortgage products and services, has been named to Black Enterprise Magazine's BE 100 list of the largest black-owned businesses in the U.S.
Recognized as the most respected measure of black-owned business performance in the U.S., the BE 100 listing ranks companies based on their employee growth and revenue. This year, ULS was listed No. 16, up from No. 31 in 2012, with $183.5 million in revenue.
Thanks to its record growth, ULS has become a Tier 1 vendor for the nation's top lenders. Also, as a multi-million dollar company, ULS was recognized as the #1 Minority Business Enterprise in job growth with more than 2,500 employees.
To be considered for the BE 100, a company must be at least 51% black-owned and fully operational for the previous calendar year. In addition, the company must manufacture or own the products it sells or provide industrial or consumer services.
Making it in the BE 100 is just one of ULS' many accolades. The company has also been recognized for its achievements in the Inc. 500 list of fastest-growing private companies for the last five years. In addition, Chuck Sanders, founder and CEO, was named one of the Top 10 black entrepreneurs in the nation by Inc 500 magazine and was the winner for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2012 award in the western Pennsylvania and West Virginia region for the services industry.
