Wells Fargo & Co. has announced that it will donate $1 million for relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
According to the San Francisco-based financial institution, $250,000 will go to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and the remaining $750,000 will go to support nonprofits conducting grassroots relief and recovery efforts in affected areas. In addition, most of Wells Fargo's more than 12,000 ATMs in the U.S. will be able to accept donations for American Red Cross relief efforts.
‘The coming days and weeks are going to be difficult for those impacted by this devastating, historic storm and Wells Fargo wants to help,’ says Michelle Lee, Northeast regional president of community banking at Wells Fargo. ‘Our donation to the American Red Cross will help immediate relief efforts while our donations to local non-profits will support longer-term efforts that will be needed in storm-hit communities and neighborhoods.’
